The course teaches how to use Dynamo, the free and visual open source programming software, as a plug-in for BIM softwares. Dynamo helps professionals to automate their design process using the Building Information Modeling method.
The Dynamo interface benefits from BIM in additional ways that are not possible with solely BIM software, such as:
– creating, modeling, and analyzing complex geometries;
– automating repetitive processes, minimizing human error and speeding up the design process;
– customizing workflow and information on buildings;
– importing and exporting data within files not inherently supported by BIM softwares, such as Excel tables.
This course is suitable for those who are already familiar with BIM Softwares and want to make the most of the software. Previous knowledge of programming languages is not necessary to enroll in the course, as Dynamo provides an intuitive and easy to learn interface with many pre-made scripting libraries.
The course is divided into 2 sections, the first part is entirely dedicated to teaching all the notions and tools available in Dynamo. The second part consists of some practical exercises that allow students to implement the knowledge they acquired during the course.
